During
a 31 year career with four different divisions of the original Bell Telephone system, Will worked throughout much
of the U.S.A. including Alaska, Hawaii, New York and Florida plus several overseas locations. During that time
he fished in seventeen different states and three countries catching basically every species of freshwater gamefish except Arctic Char and Golden Trout. Will first fished “Big Sam” in 1970 while participating in one of
Ray Scott’s early B.A.S.S. tournaments being held at Hank’s Creek Marina. He began guiding bass anglers part time
in 1974 and has lived on Rayburn and guided full time since retiring in 1986.His largest bass to date are 11 lbs. 13 oz., 11 lbs. 4 oz., 10 lbs. 12oz., 10 lbs. 9 oz., 10 lbs. 8 oz., 10 lbs. 7 oz., 10 lbs. 5 oz. and 10 lbs. 1 oz. Through 2007, he has landed and released 114 bass over 8 lbs. His guided customers have boated and released many large bass including five exceeding 10 lbs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He started The Fishing Schools in 1989 and continues to hold them at Stephen F. Austin State University’s Piney Woods Conservation Center located near Five Fingers Bay on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Guide rates are $225 Full Day, $150 Half Day for 1 or 2 anglers.
